In the STEM Lab, we also follow the school-wide CHAMPs expectations for classroom behavior. A video explaining of the CHAMPs program is on the home page of my website. In the younger grades, consequences for not meeting CHAMPs expectations may include verbal redirection, moving one's seat, and a call home to parents.
With the exception of Kindergarten, grades will be given to students based on the following categories:
Assignments 55% Class Participation 45%
Students in grades 3-8 may lose participation points if they are not following CHAMPs expectations in the STEM Lab. Verbal warnings and other avenues for redirecting the behavior will be pursued before the deduction occurs.
The expectation is that the majority of the assignments/projects are to be completed in class. Occasionally students will be asked to complete assignments for homework, or they will be given a longer-term project that requires some purchasing of supplies. Class time will often be provided to work in groups.
